Our community is full of volunteer public health professionals who want to help to improve the health and well-being of everyone. At Reach, we work to help those professionals who want to lead by providing services, learning and development to those who need them.

Job Title: Doula Program Supervisor
Location: Remote (California - based)
Job Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt (30-40 hours weekly) 

About Happy Mama 

Happy Mama, a DBA of Reach Healthcare, provides exceptional maternal health support through tailored doula care programs. We are committed to improving the childbirth experience with a full spectrum of services that promote dignity, health, and well-being for all families—including those with high-risk pregnancies. 

Position Overview 

The Doula Program Supervisor is responsible for leading and supporting a team of doulas in the delivery of high-quality maternal support services. This is a working supervisor role, meaning the majority of time is spent performing similar duties as the doulas, with additional responsibilities related to scheduling, training, and quality oversight. 

This is a non-exempt, hourly position, eligible for overtime in accordance with California wage and hour laws. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities 

Team Leadership & Development 

  • Supervise, coach, and mentor doulas to ensure consistent delivery of quality client care. 
  • Conduct team meetings, training sessions, and support performance evaluations. 
  • Provide real-time coaching and support to improve individual and team effectiveness. 
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative team culture. 
  • Ensure compliance with California labor laws, Cal/OSHA safety standards, and internal policies. 

Client & Case Management 

  • Oversee client-to-doula assignments to maintain balanced caseloads and continuity of care. 
  • Provide backup coverage for client care, including attending births as needed. 
  • Support Doula Team in addressing client-related challenges, ensuring high levels of satisfaction. 
  • Carry a limited client caseload as needed to support service delivery and continuity of care. 
  • Coordinate with internal teams to align doula services with organizational goals. 

Operational Oversight 

  • Manage scheduling to ensure optimal coverage for appointments and on-call shifts. 
  • Monitor team metrics and client outcomes, preparing regular reports for leadership. 
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, California privacy laws, and safety protocols. 
  • Maintain documentation and quality assurance standards in line with program goals 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, social services, or a related field preferred. 
  • Minimum 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience in maternal health, healthcare, or social services. 
  • At least 1 year of experience as a practicing doula preferred. 
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operations/scheduling tools. 
  • Ability to travel within California to client sites, hospitals, or partner locations as needed. 

Compliance & Legal Requirements 

  • Must be a California resident. 
  • Must comply with Cal/OSHA safety standards for remote and client-facing work. 
  • Must maintain a valid California driver’s license, auto registration, and insurance for any work-related travel. 
  • Must pass all background checks required for healthcare professionals in California. 
  • All business-related travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with California Labor Code § 2802, including mileage, tolls, parking, and other necessary costs. 

Compensation and Benefits 

  • Pay Range: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour. The final rate will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, and internal equity. 
  • Eligible for overtime pay per California law. 
  • Paid Sick Leave: Accrued at 1 hour per 30 hours worked, with a minimum of 40 hours annually, in accordance with California state and local ordinances. 
  • Additional Paid Time Off (PTO) may be offered separately and is payable upon termination per state law.

Working Hours & Breaks 

Employees are entitled to meal and rest breaks per California law, including a 30-minute unpaid meal break for shifts over 5 hours and a paid 10-minute rest break for every 4 hours worked or major fraction thereof.

This role is classified as non-exempt under California law. 

Employment is at-will, meaning either the employee or the organization may terminate the relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice, in accordance with applicable law.

Position Overview 

We are seeking compassionate, client centered and dedicated doulas to join our growing team.  In this role, it provides emotional, physical, and educational support to pregnant individuals and their families before, during, and after childbirth.  No previous doula experience is required, as comprehensive Doula training is provided. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Provide continuous support throughout the prenatal, labor, and postpartum periods 
  • Assist in creating a calm and respectful birthing environment 
  • Educate clients on labor, delivery, and postpartum expectations 
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and clinical staff 
  • Maintain availability for scheduled and on-call shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays 
  • Complete accurate, timely documentation in compliance with organizational, HIPAA, and California privacy laws 
  • Conduct in-home, hospital, and virtual client visits as assigned 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. 
  • Strong interpersonal, communication skills and problem-solving skills. 
  • Professional, empathetic, patient demeanor. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) 
  • Physical ability to provide labor support, including prolonged standing, movement, and assisting in various birthing positions. 

Job Requirements 

  • Valid California Driver’s License 
  • Use of Personal Vehicle: Must provide valid vehicle registration and, if not registered in your name, written authorization to use the vehicle for work purposes 

Auto Insurance: Must show proof of current insurance that meets California’s minimum requirements 

Travel: Willingness and ability to travel throughout San Diego County and surrounding areas 

Client Visits: Willing to conduct in-home, hospital, and online visits 

Background Check: Must pass required screenings in accordance with California healthcare regulations 

Substance-Free Workplace: Must pass pre-employment drug screening and comply with company drug, alcohol, and tobacco-free policies 

Physical Demands 

  • This position involves physically and emotionally demanding work, including: 
  • Standing and walking for extended periods 
  • Supporting clients in physical movement and birthing positions 
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds 
  • Frequent kneeling, bending, and reaching
